Moy Country Fair 2023

It was great to be back at Moy Country Fair again!

With outdoor stoves, pizza ovens and Big Green Eggs galore, we offered a warm welcome to new and old friends alike and had a wonderful time on our stand, showcasing the best outdoor products and much more. It was a really memorable weekend - here are our favourite highlights from the fair...

Cosy Times Around The RB73

Seeing so many of you gathering and relaxing around the warmth of the Fennek 80 RB73 was a joy to see. This magnificent outdoor stove offers wide views of the fire, and was perfect for warming up after the few rain showers that we had. A big bonus was that it also helped keep away the the dreaded midges, so lighting it was the first job of the day!

For those who needed to rest their weary feet whilst exploring the show, our stand was the perfect place to stop and catch your breath, and with the super comfy outdoor Adirondack chairs, by Darach, you could relax in style.

Under the shelter of our tents you could find a wide selection of gifts, homewares and accessories, giving a real taster of our showroom on Harbour Road, Inverness. An eyecatching centrepiece for our tent was the Everhot 60 in Dusky Pink - perfect for fans of the new Barbie film!

Best Stand

We were absolutely thrilled to have won the Best Open Stand and Best Stand Overall awards for the second year in a row! It was a real team effort to set up and man our stand, lugging RB73s, Big Green Eggs and tents into position and bringing our stand to life. We felt honoured to be taking home the Angus Mackenzie Memorial Quaich for Best Stand yet again, and would like to thank all our team for all their hard work. We'd also like to thank the Moy Country Fair Committee and greater Moy community for recognising all our effort, and for everyone who came along to our stand and made this year so memorable. It was an amazing atmosphere at the fair, and being a part of it gave us all a great buzz!

Outdoor Cooking

As well as beautiful gifts and homewares, we went big on outdoor cooking! Mornings started with breakfast cooked on the Rais Circle, with a mouth-watering aroma wafting across the showground as sausages, bacon and eggs sizzled away. For a mid-morning snack, it was the turn of the Gozney Dome, on which woodfired pizzas and garlic breads were the order of the day.

For lunch, we cracked out the Big Green Eggs for some gorgeous roast chicken with roast potatoes. Take it from us, once you've tried Big Green Egg roasted potatoes, nothing is quite the same again!

As the day wore on, it was time to get some steaks on the Minimax Big Green Egg and Rais Circle. Cooked dirty, directly onto the hot chef-grade charcoals (our favourite!), or on the fantastic open fire Rais Circle, the steak was out of this world!

And for dessert? Well, thankfully our stand was perfectly positioned directly opposite Miele's Gelateria, so needless to say we took full advantage of this and washed all that food down with copious amounts of ice cream. We were certainly all well fed!

Cookery Theatre

As well as our own stand, we also organised and set up this years Cooking Theatre, and members of our team were on hand to assist and welcome back Fife Food Ambassador, Christopher Trotter, who cooked up a range of delightful dishes. From mouth-watering venison and succulent legs of pork, to delicious courgette roulade and sumptuous salmon and salsa, our taste buds were all tantalised! Cooking on an AGA eR7 100 range cooker, supplied by AGA, Christopher showcased its fantastic cooking capabilities, utilising its three ovens and two hotplates to create a selection of delicious recipes.

With a harmonious blend of both seasonal and local produce, Christopher used ingredients sourced from stall holders in the Food Hall, including Alba Seafood's fish, Cullisse's cold-pressed rapeseed oil, Great Glen Charcuterie's cured venison, cheeses from Derek Priestly Cheese Monger and Son, and the finest lamb and beef from A&I Quality Butcher. The dishes were artfully garnished with local vegetables. Even some delicious chanterelles, foraged by members of our team, found their way onto the plates!

Moy Country Fair's Cookery Theatre wasn't just an event; it was an immersive experience celebrating flavours, community, and compassion. Attendees were not only treated to exquisite dishes but also contributed to an amazing cause, with a collection being held for Maggie's Highland. This great charity was represented by Mia and her dedicated team, who shared the incredible work they do to support those affected by cancer and their loved ones across the Highlands.

All in all, it was a tasty experience, and just thinking about it is making us hungry!

See You Next Year!

We really do love the Moy Country Fair - not only because it gives us the opportunity to engage with those of you who already know us, but also because it allows those who don't know us to experience our passion for what we love to do! It is, of course, hard work, with many months planning and many hours and days spent setting up, but every one of our team would agree that it is more than worth it. As we packed up our stand and bid farewell to this year's show, we carried with us memories of a weekend well-spent, and the anticipation of next years fair. We've already got some ideas about what we'd like to do next year, and believe it's going to be better than ever. We can't wait to see you all again in 2024!

Can't wait that long until you get your next Bonk & Co fix? We've got a range of events lined up in the months ahead! Head over to our events page and sign up to our newsletter to make sure you don't miss anything!
